Well, I guess my "acting career" started when I was about eight years old growing up in rural southeast Missouri. I remember doing a Christmas play at church. The only thing I remember about it was that I had to sit still while another kid, playing my brother, threw a glass of milk in my face. It was several years later when a friend of mine introduced me to a game called "Dungeons & Dragons". Not very popular, but you may have heard of it. Anyway, it wasn't long before I was running games and decided that I needed to come up with voices for the different characters. Thus began my voice acting career. Three weeks after graduating from high school, I headed off to join the Navy. Trust me when I say that boot camp in Orlando, Florida in the middle of summer is not the brightest thing I ever did. That came six months later when I married my wonderful wife Marla. Since that time we've had 3 wonderful children, and I've recently retired from active duty. Over that time I continued to use voices in the stories I read to the children and to my wife. I've been listening to this crazy thing called "podcasting" since long before you could download them in iTunes. In 2007, several of the podcasts I listened to mentioned this new award show at Dragon Con called the Parsec Awards. I figured that shows nominated for this award must be the cream of the crop, and since I was looking for more to listen to, I should check out their web site: which is where I found out about "Superman: The Last Son of Krypton" and, through that, the wonder that is Pendant Audio. I hadn't been listening long when a casting call was placed for "Seminar 13". Since I had some audio recording equipment lying around that I had purchased for a failed podcasting attempt, I figured I should put it to good use. And the rest, as they say, is history. Listen to Mark's interview in This Week In Pendant! Mark is the voice of Robert Sprite in "Star Trek: Defiant", Frank McGuff in "Umket Industries Presents: The Dixie Stenberg and Brassy Battalion Adventure Theater" and Fix in "The Kingery". |
