Michael King

I'm a web producer with the WXIA-TV in Atlanta. I am responsible for much of the news content that the station provides on their Web site. In addition, I am part of the team that produces the 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts for 11Alive. I'm also a board member with a national black conservative Washington-based think tank. Before I moved into television producing, I wrote a regular column for that group, which appeared in about 400 newspapers and magazines across the nation.

I'm originally from Gary, Indiana, born and raised, and that's where the radio bug first bit me. I was a local DJ on the local radio station when I was in high school, and I've done news, talk and spun records (you know, those black vinyl things that go on a platter) at several stations in Indiana, Washington, D.C. and here in Atlanta, where I've been for the past 14 years (has it been that long!?). Once I got here, I also worked at CNN (cue James Earl Jones) as part of the launch team for CNNSI.com.

I've been a true geek for many years, with a love for comic books (yes, I'm a continuity fiend), good mysteries, fantasies and science fiction. I'm a jazz fan, and cooking is a hobby of mine (though my wife won't use that word to describe it). And of course, being from Indiana, basketball courses through my veins, though I do love football as well.

My wife ("She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed") and I live just outside the ATL with our three kids (anybody want two teenagers and a first grader? they come real cheap, and I'll even throw in transportation within 30 miles).

Pendant Geekish Trivia Point: I graduated from the same high school as William Marshall (Dr. Richard Daystrom, "Star Trek": "The Ultimate Computer"), and Avery Brooks (Capt. Ben Sisko, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine").

Finally, those who wish to get to me can high-tail it to one of my blogs (http://mhking.new.mu.nu/ or http://mhking.wordpress.com/) -- or by glomming onto my Twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/mhking).

Michael is the voice of Shimizu in "The Kingery", and Thrawn in "Star Wars: Blue Harvest".
