Mindy Rast

For most of her life Mindy (previously known as Elizabeth) was told her name had come from her father's infatuation with the plucky sidekick of Mork & Mindy. Maybe it was that connection to the entertainment world which led her to a life of crazy theatrics. Or maybe it was just the hair. Either way, as a little girl, Mindy would use the worlds of fantasy and make believe to routinely escape from the monotony of the mundane world. Becoming people like Mona, Shredder's long lost daughter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, then Emily, the Australian Planeteer, Mindy would spend her days creating characters to play within the worlds of her favorite stories and cartoons. This attitude of fancy became her security blanket, a sense of the familiar as she grew up in unfamiliar lands. When she was nine years old, Mindy moved from the norm of suburban Austin, Texas to what she thought would be the wild jungle lands of Africa. While the reality of Nairobi, Kenya was not so dramatic, Mindy still carried her sense of adventure and imagination with her, becoming Erin Grayson-Wayne or the third Narnian daughter of Eve in her exotic backyard (when she wasn't self-consciously watching for the guards and her biting geese). At fifteen, Mindy was uprooted to Voorschoten, The Netherlands, where she became sorceresses in shows like Hercules, Roar, and Deep Space Nine. (Why she created fairies in the Star Trek universe, even Mindy doesn't quite understand.) Now once again back in Texas, Mindy took this love of play with her to Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State), earning herself a Bachelors of Fine Arts in acting (during the time she wasn't singing in the moonlight through the sprinklers), showcasing in New York, and studying abroad with the Royal Shakespeare Company. As of now, she is steadily rising in the acting world, being cast in several films with local production companies, winning a number of B. Iden Payne awards for her work in the Austin theater scene, and gaining a worldwide audience through her new found love of audio drama. Yet all the while, Mindy continues to play with the people in her head.
