Perry Whittle used to work in a photo lab. He worked alone in a darkroom all day printing enlargements. He dialed in the right amounts of cyan, magenta, and yellow filters to correctly tint the light from the enlarger head. During exposures, his hands fluttered elegantly through the beam of light, burning and dodging to enhance the photo. For days on end he stayed in the darkroom, holding conversations with himself in funny voices to keep himself amused. One day Mr. Whittle ran low on photographic paperespecially the large sheets. He opened the door of the darkroom, and squinting in the sudden bright light, stumbled into the next room. This room was well-lit, its walls were covered with fabric, and it contained a single microphone. With hesitant steps and a feeling of awe Mr. Whittle approached the microphone. He inhaled, opened his mouth to speak, and . . . Listen to Perry's interview in This Week In Pendant!
