"The Pendant Shakespeare aka The Wild Bill Variety Show" is an ongoing presentation of the works of William Shakespeare.
“If you can look into the seeds of time, and say which grain will grow and which will not, speak then to me.”
William Shakespeare died April 23rd, 1616, and almost 400 years later we still perform his plays, read his writings, and discuss his characters. He has truly achieved immortality, the likes of which a fellow writer can only dream of.
This century has seen many advances, but even now we still have as much to learn from his plays. Their plots have become an integral part of our culture, and his words ring true today. “The quality of mercy is not strained.” “Be not afraid of greatness.” “if you prick us do we not bleed?” “There are more things in heaven and earth... then are dreamt of in your philosophy.” “Love sought is good; love unsought is better.” “To be, or not to be, that is the question.”
Here we have tried to bring the majesty and power of Shakespeare to the modern listener. You know the stories, you know these people, you know how it ends; you’re not here for that. Come for the ride, and to experience the journey.
This isn’t academic Shakespeare, this is for the everyday listener. Join us as we bring the text to life.
